I love these untranslatable words/concepts. And I am sure there is a reason you didn’t tell us but I can’t help but wonder what this fat book is that didn’t grab you!
I feel strangely protective about this experience (which pops up again in the text I'm currently revising), which is likely a sign that I should write more fully about it once I *do* finish it, I suppose? Because, despite everything, I do plan on finishing it!
I really loved reading this. It makes me think of how often I pack books on a vacation and don’t end up wanting to read them. And how sometimes that says a lot about how much I’m enjoying myself. The book will still be there to read any time. I’m glad you stuck with the drinks and foods and sports and other reads that could help you make the most of your time in Rio!
Thank you, Haley! For mood readers, it feels like a challenge to try and project how you'll feel in a different place, under different circumstances, doesn't it?
Lovely reflection of your trip, Juliana. It sounds amazing, and you must have mixed feelings on your return. I agree regarding routines; so easy to break, so tricky to reinstate...even without a big trip, I always find summer the hardest season to keep to any kind of regular rhythm.
Thank you, Kate! It is always a little strange, and this year a little more than in previous times (for reasons I want to write about at some point but don't think it's the right moment for quite yet). But I am proud of myself for making the most of it, and for making the most of being back with my couch, my bed, and my books!
