David M. Shapard does an excellent job of contextualizing Austen’s world in his annotated versions of her works. And his notes are on the page facing the text, so you don’t even have to flip back to end notes!

Oh, I loved Abandoners! It's feeding into my research atm. I also enjoyed A Life Of One's Own, I'm a big fan of memoir blended with nonfiction literary exploration. I like the sound of Abigail and Territory of Light.

I already have a copy of The Wall at home but your description of it moved it straight to the top of my immediate TBR. Also, I purchased Abigail after we talked about it on Instagram and now I am feeling a very Juliana-esque month of reading coming up!
