I love how you introduce me to new words and concepts; "sprezzatura"! Also, I had not even heard of "bookshop wealth"...possibly bc I don't have Instagram...but I confess to ogling over images of curated bookshelves 😀 I think you make such a good point here though, about our things being connected to who we are. When I pick up a book from my bookshelves, it often brings up memories of when I first encountered it; I often find postcards or bookmarks I have stored inside it. I love making those connections 💕
From what I can gather, the so-called trend started on TikTok, which I don't have, and then migrated to instragram and elsewhere, like so much of what happens online in the past handful of years...
And I agree with you in that so many things around us hold dear memories and basically bits and pieces of who we are and how we got here! I think maybe the cultural discourse got really into minimalism and the Kondo way and stuff has been vilified in a way that doesn't necessarily relate to how we actually build our memories and our homes!
